GMC has finally presented its new Sierra. The new generation pick-up does a number of things different from the car on which it is based.
In December last year we met a new generation Chevrolet Silverado and from that moment on the countdown to a new Sierra started. The Sierra is GMC’s version of the Silverado with its own front and rear.
The GMC Sierra falls just like the Silverado a lot compared to its predecessor. With the Sierra, the minimum weight saving, thanks to the use of aluminum, is 163 kilos. GMC adds a special option to its new pick-up. The car is, unlike the Silverado, namely available with a carbon fiber-made body. This makes it the first pick-up available with such a container. The weight saving thus increases by another 28 kilos.
Furthermore, GMC standard supplies the so-called MultiPro Tailgate on the Sierra, a valve that can be opened in more than just one way. The Sierra comes standard with a telephone application with which the lighting of a trailer can be tested. Furthermore, the car is equipped with cameras around to keep a closer eye on things.
GMC presents the Sierra directly as a luxurious Denali-veriant. In the interior we mention in that variant not only a digital instrumentation, but also an 8-inch infotainment screen. GMC also installs a color head-up display, a multifunctional indoor mirror (there is a display in it) and a whole series of safety systems on the Denali.
On the motorcycle list are the same blocks as the Silverado. This means that the Sierra will also be available with new 5.2 and 6.2-liter V8, eight-cylinder equipped with active cylinder shutdown. Perhaps more interesting is the arrival of a diesel engine, a 3.0-liter six-in-line. This self-igniter is, like the 6.2-liter petrol variant, standard coupled to a tensile machine.
